World War 2 movies are a dime a dozen, but many of them are either slow, drawn-out, or too gory and portray a lackluster plot. In 1968, Brian G. Hutton directed perfection in "Where Eagles Dare", the World War two adventure, starring Richard Burton and a young and upcoming Clint Eastwood. The film centers on a plot to rescue a U.S. general, captured by the Nazi's who are keeping him in a castle in the Bavarian Alps. Burton and Eastwood, along with some female accomplices, devise a plan to disguise themselves as nazi officers and infiltrate the castle to rescue the allied general. It's a daring mission, filled with danger and betrayal. It's one of my favorite war movies and it still keeps me on the edge of my seat. I highly recommend it.
