It's election season, so I couldn't think of a more fitting movie like "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington". The movie centers around a young and upcoming politician (James Stewart) who hails from small-town USA and has recently been nominated to the United States Senate. Smith is thrown into political fire quickly and starts to see the massive corruption that has found its way into a country that is supposed to be a beacon of freedom for the free world. It's a film full of witty humor but also some surreal drama that is very eye-opening. Stewart helmed many movies for director Frank Capra, and this film still stands the test of time for more reasons than one.
