Known as "The King of Hollywood", Clark Gable was the golden era's original heartthrob. His dashing looks and tranquil personality were known on and off the screen, and his roles with lead actresses like Joan Crawford, Maylin Monroe, and Vivien Lee made him Hollywood's leading man. Before he made it "big", Gable had a hard time landing roles due to his big ears. After his first role in 1931's "Painted Desert", filmmakers saw Gable's talent and took a chance. The rest became history. Gable also enlisted into the Army Air Force when he was 41. Of course, he's best known for his work in "Gone with the Wind" and "It happened One Night". Gable passed away on November 16, 1960.
